Avios with Amex points: British Airways, Iberia or Qatar?

Three partners in the German Membership Rewards programme collect Avios – at different rates.

Three routes, three rates

• British Airways Club: rate 5:4, from 1,000 MR in steps of 5, crediting up to 1 working day; 10,000 MR = 8,000 Avios
• Iberia Club: rate 5:4, from 1,000 MR in steps of 500, crediting up to 1 working day; 10,000 MR = 8,000 Avios
• Qatar Privilege Club: rate 3:2, from 900 MR in steps of 3, crediting approx. 7 working days; 10,000 MR = 6,666 Avios

The detour via British Airways

If you need Qatar Avios, you can transfer to British Airways first and, according to British Airways, move the Avios on to Qatar at 1:1: 10,000 MR then become 8,000 instead of 6,666 Avios.
